The appropriate sentences to the text:

For many centuries the purple thistle has been Scotland’s national emblem. This is an old legend. Ancient Scandinavian Norsemen wanted to plunder the land of Scotland and settle there. The Scots gathered their army to defend their land. After a long march they made a camp to have a rest behind the river Tay. The Scots were sleeping and didn’t expect the enemies. When the Norsemen decided to attack the Scotts, they took their shoes off not to make noise. But one of them stepped on a thistle. The sudden and sharp pain made him scream. So the Scots heard the “alarm” and put the Norsemen to fight. That is how the thistle became the emblem of Scotland.
